Tips for Scholarship Success

Start early. Many scholarships have tight deadlines and commit funds a full year out. Begin researching scholarships early and apply as soon as possible to maximize your chances.

Stay organized. With so many different deadlines and requirements to keep track of, it can get pretty overwhelming. We recommend you stay organized in a way that makes sense to you. That could be writing things down in a designated notebook, using an Excel spreadsheet, or whatever else works for you!

Write a strong essay. Many scholarships require essays as part of their application process. Make sure yours stands out by being clear, concise, and authentic. Try to avoid using an AI generator. The screening tools that some scholarships use might weed out your essay before it even reaches a human if it detects too much AI-generated content in your essay. Besides, these people want to hear from you and not an algorithm.

Ask for recommendations. Some scholarships want a letter of recommendation from your teachers. Asking for that early can give your teachers or mentors time to craft a stand-out letter.

Apply to multiple scholarships. The more you apply for, the better chances you have of receiving enough financial aid to cover your entire tuition cost. Besides, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take, so better to be turned down then never asking at all.
